First Kiss

Temari breathed in the cool air as she felt the refreshingly cold breeze on her face. It was good to be back in Konoha, she couldn’t deny she missed the Leaf Village, and the shinobi there. In truth, Temari had more friends in Konoha then she did in Suna, and she lived there. Kankuro walked beside his sister as they approached the gates to Konoha. One week ago Hinata and Neji Hyuuga had sent word to Temari, Kankuro and Gaara that there was going to be a big party, everyone invited. Gaara, being the Kazekage had declined the invitation as he just couldn’t leave the village for to long right then.
As the two walked through the gates into the village, Temari looked around and saw many familiar sights. ^Naruto Uzumaki eating at Ichiraku Ramen, shy Hinata Hyugga watching him eat, that lazy ass Shikamaru Nara watching clouds, he looked so peaceful and calm up there, so.....^
“Temari?” Temari jerked out of her daydream. “Hn?”
“Are you ok? You seem kinda out of it” Kankuro said looking curiously at his sister.
“Oh no, I’m fine” Temari replied.


Shikamaru sighed as he watched the clouds float gently by. “Party huh? How troublesome”
“I hear that sand shinobi Temari is down for the party” Chouji said slyly.
       “What really?” Shikamaru said, a little too quickly.
“Oooooo Shikamaru, you like her don’t you?!”
“What NO!!”


THE PARTY
“Where are the boys? They said they’d be here by now? Tenten said impatiently turning around and staring at the door.
A Few Minutes Later
“Look there they are!” Sakura pointed at the door.
“Well...it’s.....about......time” Temari trailed off as she saw the slouched form of Shikamaru walking right towards her.
“Hey” he said, not meeting her eyes.
“Hi” she replied, smiling.
Shikamaru felt his cheeks burn and turned away. ^Why was he blushing? He didn’t like Temari like that. Did he? And yet, he found he could hardly take his eyes off her. Her blond hair tied up in four short pony tails as usual, her teal eyes glinting in the dimmed light, her......^
Shikamaru snapped out of his trance and realized that Temari was waving her hand in front of his face. “Shikamaru? Anyone in there?”
“I bet I know what he was thinking about” smirked Chouji.
Shikamaru shot Chouji a warning look that plainly said ‘Don’t tell her, PLEASE’ or it could have possibly said ‘Tell her and you die’.
“Say Temari, did you know that Shikamaru likes y......”
“CHOUJI SHUT UP!!!!!” yelled Shikamaru, yet again turning slightly red.


“CHOUJI SHUT UP!!!!!” Temari turned a faint shade of pink as Shikamaru yelled at his best friend.
Naruto started to laugh and Kiba soon joined in. “Oooooo Shikamaru in love?” Kiba snickered, tears of laughter leaking out of the corners of his eyes.
^How Troublesome^ thought Shikamaru, carefully averting the eyes of Chouji, Kiba and especially Temari. ^Damn this^.
“Temari, uhhh c-can I have a word?”
“Errrr sure I guess, what’s up?”
Shikamaru led Temari away from the others, through the crowd to a secluded spot.

5 MINUTES LATER

“What’s taking then so long?” Naruto burst out, impatiently walking off in the direction Shikamaru and Temari had taken.
“That Baka!!” Neji cried.
A few seconds later, Naruto was making his way back towards them.
“Well?” said Kiba. “Did you find out what’s keeping them?”


Shikamaru slid his hands up Temari’s back and tightened his hold on her. ^Her lips are so soft.......my first kiss^.

Temari drew closer to Shikamaru. ^He’s so gentle........my first kiss^.
